I found out that an old classmate had passed away. I remember the kindness of his mother, so I took to networking with friends to track down her number. I gave her a call and she remembered me. I let her know how much I appreciated her son’s friendship over the years and that Greg adored his son and I wanted her to know that, while she’s not on social media, that most of his posts were about his pride for his son.
Be kind to everyone.
Your obituary also won’t likely have any comments about how hard you work, but how you treat people.
We were told a great idea last year, to avoid the rush of the crowds on Saturday, to go out on Friday and camp out just past the Renaissance area, in BLM land.
We took the RV out and note to self, don’t go in stupid rush hour. Might as well be out early in the morning in rush hour. Anyway, when we got to the area, the land was very nice for us to camp. We barely had to set up, we got to microwave our dinner and it was awesome. We went to bed at a reasonable hour… and when we got up in the morning, it was quick to put things away and drive over.
Driving over the the Renaissance area, we came from the other direction and to get in, was super quick! We even got rock-star parking! Right up front.
We had an enjoyable day and stayed the whole time. When the area closed, we went over to the RV and basically just hung out, had some snacks and refreshments as the parking lot cleared out. When we were the last ones, we just left and went home.
Our annual Arizona Aloha Festival celebration! We had a lot of fun! Now that we’ve mastered how to do it, its even better! We bring our wagon, chairs, food, a mat to lay on, all that stuff! Its a very comfortable for us to go now! The best part is that nobody messes with our stuff while we walk about, so its like we have a reserved spot.
After Berlin’s sweet 16, we headed out to our side of town to celebrate with our friends, our typical Dark Ones party. The theme this year was Men In Tights, and since I didn’t have any, I just wore my Kilt.
I can’t believe this baby girl has turned into a young adult cutie. I know Jaime and I were one of the first non-family members to see her when she was born. We were one of the first who knew Camille was pregnant with her… and now she’s grown up.
I was a little emotional just thinking about this day as it was happening, how much we’ve been part of our friends’ lives and getting to witness them growing up. It’s beautiful.
We had a great time at the Phoenix Scottish Festival. We brought Allysen with us and even met up with our friends who run AZ Tardis, getting to know them a little more. They had their own tent and are part of a clan, I forget which. Anyway, we didn’t get any photos with them there. Speaking of photos, here’s just a couple I took.
We practiced for just over a month to get our playlist down and getting everyone to start, stop, and articulate specific parts together so we sound like we know what we are doing! It all paid off! I think we did a good job and while we didn’t get to do all our songs, what we did do, we did well!
The day after we got back from Los Angeles, I flew out to Tampa for a leadership team Onsite. We flew our people leaders out to do some leadership exercises and have them build our strategy for the year. We also got to have them bond with everyone over activities and of course, drinks!
It was great to hang out with everyone and for them all to meet and all that good stuff. We also fed everyone. A pretty fun time, despite all the work we had to do.
At the end of it all, I got to spend a good part of the day hanging out with my Marine brother, John and his family. We had some good quality time together until I had to get to the airport. I took them to lunch and then out for chocolates, we got to see a dead body, and a cool place where they sold custom shoes. I’m also in a tiktok, but I’m not sure if that video is still up, maybe I can paste the facebook copy of it.
When John dropped me off at the airport for my ride home, I got to run into Rob who I also served with, he was visiting family in Florida. Literally got to see two Marine brothers who I served with in the early 90s at the same airport on the same day, 30+ years later.
We had such an amazingly fun time at GallifreyOne. Jaime debuted her Anne Droid because we knew Billie Piper would be there… and she took a photo with us!
Our friend, Allison, got a free photo with Alex Kingston!
Aside from all our celebrity stuff, we met with so many people that we had interactions with in the past that remembered us and vice versa, also because of our being so familiar with the place, the events, the people, we were much more social with everyone.
